The Adaptiv Partner Compact
Working alongside trusted advisers.
Owners rarely make important business decisions alone. Likely they already have a CFO, accountant, Chair, M&A adviser, technology specialist or other trusted adviser around them.
Adaptiv works alongside those advisers where our organisational analysis can add another useful perspective to a Client question.
We call those advisers our Partners.
The business receiving the work is the Client.
Our Partner Compact explains how we intend to work together.
Where Adaptiv fits
Partners often see the consequence of a problem before its underlying cause is clear.
A CFO may see margins weakening.
An exit adviser may see too much value depending on the founder.
A Chair may see the same execution problem returning.
A technology Partner may see manual work, duplicated information or dependency on a few key people.
Adaptiv helps investigate what sits beneath those symptoms.
Using our Meridian framework, we examine the organisational conditions affecting how the business makes decisions, works together, delivers, adapts and turns opportunity into sustained performance.
The Partner brings their specialist expertise and knowledge of the Client.
Adaptiv adds organisational intelligence.
Together, we help the Client understand what deserves attention and who is best placed to address it.
Our commitments to Partners
1. We protect your relationship with the Client
We respect the trust through which you introduced us.
Adaptiv will not use an introduction as an opportunity to bypass you, compete for work you already provide or extend our role without discussion.
Where our analysis identifies an issue within your area of expertise, we bring that back into the conversation with you.
2. We agree the scope, roles and commercials before we start
Before any work begins, we agree:
the Client question being examined;
what Adaptiv is there to do;
what the Partner is there to do;
how the Client relationship will be managed;
what information can be shared;
how findings will be discussed;
and the commercial arrangement.
Our default is simple:
A Partner introduces Adaptiv around a specific Client question.
We agree a bounded scope and fee before work begins.
The Partner leads and co-ordinates the relationship, and Adaptiv does not extend its role without discussion.
Where another structure makes more sense, such as subcontracting or joint delivery, we can agree that together.
Any Partner economics are agreed transparently in writing before the engagement begins.
How a Partner engagement works
1. A question appears
The Partner encounters a Client issue where the underlying cause deserves further investigation.
2. We frame the question together
We agree whether Adaptiv can add something useful and define a focused scope.
3. Adaptiv investigates
We combine external research with agreed internal evidence and conversations to develop an independent analysis.
4. The Client decides what happens next
The Client and Partner consider the findings, agree what deserves attention and decide who is best placed to carry the work forward.
What currently exists
Meridian is a documented organisational and economic assessment framework developed from almost two decades of organisational diagnostics and through approximately 400 outside-in company analyses.
It is designed to connect organisational conditions with business performance and future value.
Our current focus is working with a small number of owner-led businesses where the analysis can be tested against internal evidence, acted upon and measured over time.
An illustrative example
In one outside-in assessment of a founder-led engineering business, the company appeared financially sound from the outside while the analysis raised questions around founder dependency, decision concentration and organisational capacity.
The value of the assessment was not in claiming those issues as fact, but in identifying a focused set of questions that could then be tested with evidence from inside the business.
That is how we believe organisational analysis should work: evidence first, interpretation second, action third.
Working principle
Adaptiv strengthens the advisory system around the Client.
We bring organisational intelligence to questions that cross the boundaries between people, operations, finance and value, while respecting the expertise and relationships already around the table.
